What are we all about??
NEIGHBORS
is an exhilarating triumph, unprecedented as an instant
American Classic because of the hard work of a committed
group of mostly Byram residents to teach the basics of Chess
through music, movement and song to children of all ages.
For the past three seasons we’ve applied handmade charm to
the basic rules of Chess to defenses that can be used in
real life. We filmed our first season in its birthplace
Greenwich, CT to the theme of the defense against gang
manipulation. The Second Season was filmed in Philadelphia,
PA and again the theme was the same. In Third Season filmed
in Danbury, CT we changed our theme to defenses against
being bullied.
There’s event TV
and then there’s NEIGHBORS on public access, a blast
of joy that ignites with spirit and amusement, an
extraordinary and unforgettable experience. We’ve come full
circle and our Fourth Season has been filmed again in
Greenwich and is spectacularly impressive in form and in
fashion. Thanks to the Allegra Dance Troop’s spunky bravura
performance to the Chess Song, under the direction of Regina
LaRusso, Director of the Allegra Jazz Kids - founder Claudia
DeVita.
The theme for
NEIGHBORS Season Four will again be how to protect
yourself against bullies by using the same principals
applied to Chess
For most of the
Fourth Season’s filming, we follow Master Rich Jackson our
impeccable and surprisingly funny Chess coach around as he
leads Chess groups at the Byram Shubert Library and the
Greenwich Central Library. Master Rich talks about Chess to
our viewers in an unhurried, humorously and impressive way
by explaining the moves of some of the Chess greats like
Bobby Fischer as a guide. So get ready to jump in – ‘cause
NEIGHBORS is not so much a show you follow as a show
you get swallowed by-- in a good way.
